CHW and Champions: What Does It All Mean?

As March is upon us, we’re ready to dive into discussions regarding the Children’s Miracle Network Champions program and all things Children’s Hospitals Week.

If this is your first time visiting our site and you’re curious to learn more, we’ve laid it all out for you below.

WHAT IS THE CHAMPION’S PROGRAM?

Every year, 12 local Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals identify a “Champion” in each of their local communities to serve as the face for children treated at their local children’s hospital. These ambassadors spend their year advocating for the charitable need of children’s hospitals across North America.

This year’s team of brave and spirited Champions have all fought their own battles. By sharing their unique stories with Canadians, their communities and partners, they will help to encourage them to join the fight for children’s health through local support, events and Children’s Miracle Network Canada programs.

One of the largest celebrations of these Champions takes place during Children’s Hospitals Week*. Children’s Hospitals Week Canada is presented by Walmart with additional sponsors Air Canada Foundation and The Brick.

WHAT IS CHILDREN’S HOSPITALS WEEK?

Children’s hospitals rely on donations to provide care for kids — no matter their illnesses or injuries. Help spread this message during #ChildrensHospitalsWeek, beginning March 18. Champion children, member hospital foundation ambassadors, and corporate partners will all gather together in Orlando, Florida to promote the hospitals’ need for funds.

Tune into the Facebook Live-athon at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 20. Similar to our trademark telethons, this live fundraiser, broadcast from Walt Disney World, will feature Miracle Kids from across the U.S. and Canada and appearances from surprise celebrity guests. Watch live at Facebook.com/CMNHospitals.

Wear a bandage for #ChildrensHospitalsWeek. Show your support for children’s hospitals by wearing a bandage of your choice, taking a photo, and sharing it with the #ChildrensHospitalsWeek hashtag.
